I used to think working alone is great so you can keep 100% of the profit.
What a stupid mindset!
I didn’t know “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
Again, I never knew “No matter how brilliant your mind or strategy, if you’re playing a solo game, you’ll always lose out to a team.” – Reid Hoffman
I failed to understand that “Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.” – Steve Jobs
We must know that “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” – Ryunosuke Satoro
For a common person to attain uncommon results, we must not stand and function as an Island. We must function in a team.
“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” – Andrew Carnegie
Partnership that works
Businesses partner in different areas. Breaking tasks and allowing team members put their skills to work, pressing toward achieving a common goal should be the foundation of any entrepreneur.
Whether it’s general, limited or limited liability partnership, what keeps the team together is trust and responsibility.
If all partners carry out their tasks with enthusiasm, getting paid their share of the profit on time, there is bound to be growth even in the face of fierce competition.
Employing staff and paying them a fixed salary is not partnership. These are employees who get paid per contract terms whether your business grows or not.
Most don’t serve for the growth of the company. All they want is be at duty, fulfill their description so as to be paid the stipulated amount. Signing more contracts, expanding and creating annexes may not mean anything to their pay package.
But a partner is someone who shares in profit (after all fixed costs, including salaries have been deducted). Partners look up to a percentage portion in the profit, implying the more the profit, the more the amount earned by proportion.
If you play the solo game, you generate a thousand. But working with 5 other partners, you generate six thousand. If each thousand contributes 2% to the expansion of your business, six could mean a huge leap.
